About B43 PAP

This is what the Hughes Clinic webpage says about the drug:

Two parts make up the drug: the B43 antibody (or anti-CD19) and Genistein, a natural substance from the soybean plant that when regularly absorbed by soybean consumers has no harmful effects. B43 is designed to recognize specific B-cell leukemia cells just as natural antibodies recognize and attack germs. When the antibody finds a leukemia cell, it attaches and B43 delivers Genistein into the cell and kills it. Genistein is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor and, once in the cell, kills it by disrupting important signals in the cancer cell without damaging healthy tissue. Extensive testing of B43-Genistein in monkeys showed no toxicity at high doses.

Chris must be in remission to attempt a bone marrow transplant. He has 2 cord bloods waiting for him at the University of Minnesota, along with 4, 6-out-of-6 perfectly matched bone marrow donors. The therapy that Chris is receiving at the Hughes Clinic is his last possible hope to achieve remission.
